Fifteen Minutes of Blogospheric Fame
My regular readers may not be aware that Quaker Ranter is the talk of the political internet for the last few days. Since posting my "account of getting a phone call from a CBS News publicist", I've been linked to by a Who's Who of blogging gliteratti: Wonkette, Instapundit, The Volokh Conspiracy, Little Green Footballs, RatherBiased, etc. For a short time yesterday, the story was a part of the second-ranked article on Technorati's Politics Attention index. See The Left Wing Conspiracy Revealed by Nonviolence.org on the main site.
Reclaiming the Power of Primitive Quakerism for the 21st Century
Just think, Martin -- you could perhaps be the first Friend in history to utilize the infamous "Instalanche" to bear witness to the Light for thousands of blogophiles.
Ah, the compexities of being a Public Friend in the Post-Modern age... (That could make a good blog name.)
Well Jeffrey,
Yes, who knows what effect this is having? Wonkette's site logo is "blue-eyed brunette in a short skirt gazes unblinkingly out at the reader in knee-high boots stretched across her desk alongside her typewriter and her cat." She says it "looks like an 18-year-old library scientist who is probably the type of woman that our clientele thinks is hot":http://journalism.nyu.edu/pubzone/ReadMe/article.php?id=355. And yet, a surprising number of visitors from her site have stayed on the Quaker Ranter to check out the plain dress pages, which had record visitors yesterday. Hmmmm...
I watched the CBS News piece in question and was happy when they mentioned that the couple that drove one of the resisters to Canada was Quaker. We're in good company, certainly.
Congrats Martin! Its about time that people take notice of what the rest of us have known for a long time. You run a great couple of blogs and we appreciate your work for peace.

Oh, cheers, Martin. What an opportunity for ministry. As my good Friend Lorcan says, we're in the business of planting seeds, and we may or may not get to see the fruit. It's enough to know the seeds are planted. And even if half the attention to plain dress is curiosity, what seeds you're planting!!
