This is one of two buildings and not the one currently used as a meetinghouse. I wonder if perhaps it was a school? I haven’t been in this building for years. I’ll ask next time I’m there.

On one or two occasions in the Midwest, mtgs that adopted the pastoral system added this kind of structure for “preacher space”… but I wouldn’t expect such in NJ.
